In recent years, the flexible workspace market in the Netherlands has gone from strength to strength. The thriving start-up scene in this market meant that flexible working and therefore demand for agile workspace was already booming before the pandemic hit, putting it in a very strong position to emerge from the past 18 months relatively unscathed. In fact, demand for flexible workspace in the Netherlands is higher than ever, and the stability of the market is driving increased demand from different sectors and larger companies who are all looking to inject increased agility into their real estate portfolios.
Amsterdam remains a hot spot, in particular for international companies, but we have seen a significant increase in demand for flex space in secondary cities. Unlike some European countries, flexible workspaces have already spread into regional areas across the Netherlands, but if demand continues to increase at the current rate, further investment in quality supply will be needed to service demand coming from corporate clients looking to base themselves outside the capital.
